Contact Jay Dobson

Jay is a Turfgrass Agronomist with more than 25 years experience working in all sectors of the Turfgrass Industry. He originally worked in horticulture with local authority and private sector clients before specialising in turfculture. He has also lectured in Turfgrass Science and related subjects at UCL Myerscough, managing a range of programmes including Degree and HND Turfgrass Science as well as pioneering delivery of the NVQ Level 3 Turfgrass Programme. Following his time working in education he left to become a Director of PSD Agronomy Ltd. working with clients throughout the UK and Ireland as consultant agronomist, as well as managing drainage and construction projects. 

Jay’s work includes providing ongoing agronomy, practical management and technical advice for Golf, Racing, and Football, as well as managing a wide range of projects including feasibility studies, construction and drainage at new and existing facilities.  He is also a regular speaker at conferences and seminars and also writes regularly for industry publications.  He has always had a keen interest in the history and development of the game of golf and also plays whenever he can. He is a member of Whitecraigs Golf Club and the unique 12 hole links course at Shiskine on the Isle of Arran.

  • Golf Construction -
    Blairs Seminary, Aberdeen. Initial feasibility for a proposed 18 hole course and relevant infrastructure on behalf of the Muir Group.
    The Cathcart Castle Golf Club. Agronomy and construction advice as well as technical specification and project management in two phases for the construction of 5 new greens, surrounds and approaches
  • Golf Agronomy -
    Selection of Clients includes: Davenport GC, The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, Ranfurly Castle GC, The Carrick, Loch Lomond, Balmoral GC, Thurlestone GC, Perranporth GC, World of Golf Glasgow, Mearns Castle Golf Academy.
  • Agronomy -
    Selection of Clients includes: The Racing Industry including Northern, Arena Leisure and Jockey Club Courses, National and Premier League Football, Turf Growers, Insurance Loss Adjustment.
  • Drainage -
    Selection of Clients Includes: Northern Racing, Arena Leisure, RFU Community Development, Local Authorities, Schools and Colleges.
