Fiona graduated from the University of Leeds in 1982 with a degree in plant sciences. She joined the staff of STRI in 1995 having spent some time working in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. Fiona has a considerable amount of hands on research experience and currently runs the STRI’s Turfgrass Evaluation programme. In this programme individual grass species and cultivars are evaluated for lawn, sports and close mowing uses. She has also carried out a number of varied contract research projects within the sports turf field.
In her spare time Fiona is a very keen cross-country skier and races regularly in both domestic and International competitions. Recently Fiona joined the British Winter Triathlon team and has represented Great Britain at World Championship (age category) level in this sport. |
