Legal Compliance

"Environmental legislation exists to improve awareness of potentially damaging operations and to protect, employees, the public and the environment"

Like any other business, golf clubs have a duty to ensure that their operations are within the law.

The environmental legislation relating to golf club activities is wide ranging and complex and it can be difficult for golf course managers to know what their responsibilities are.

STRI’s Ecology and Environment Unit can provide:

  • Educational seminars – at STRI or at your golf course.
  • Maintenance facility inspections.
  • Written method statements to ensure legal compliance.
  • Detailed management planning to ensure current and future compliance.
  • Telephone advice on environmental legislation via our subscription service.

We can provide specific advice on:

  • Waste storage and disposal (including hazardous waste).
  • Wastewater treatment and disposal.
  • Chemical storage.
  • Pesticide, herbicide and fungicide use.
  • Management of protected species.
  • Management of designated sites.
  • New golf developments and Environmental Impact Assessments.
