Training and Education

"We can only conserve habitat and species diversity if we recognise its existence"

"Understanding and Integrating environmental and ecological issues is perhaps the only way golf will ever be accepted as a positive and
sustainable land use"

Understanding and integrating environmental and ecological issues is perhaps the only way golf will ever be accepted as a positive and sustainable land use. This will only be successful if all concerned with the management of the facility and all its component parts are aware of; the issues involved, the legislation directing development and management practices, and if ecological and environmental practices are wholly embraced.

The Ecology & Environment Unit provides bespoke training programmes specific to turf and golf facility managers either at STRI or at golf clubs themselves. These include:

Training for Golf Professionals and Golf Club Managers

  • Understanding sustainability as applied to all areas of the golf facility.
  • Managing the cost of energy and waste.
  • The Business of the Environment.

Golf Course Managers

  • Instructional Courses in Practical Ecological and Environmental Management.
  • A Practical Approach to Golf Course Ecology.
  • Ecological Principles: Habitat and Species Functioning "A Practical Approach".
  • Understanding and managing the cost of energy and waste.
